Cabin John Park

We spent this morning at Cabin John Park in Maryland. Not only does D.C. have a huge park thru this beautiful city(Rock Creek Park...reminds me of Central Park in N.Y. City), and parks on every few city blocks, but a short drive to Maryland or Virgina, there are more great parks!

Cabin John Park is nestled in the woods, it has a playground, and the best part...a train , that for $1.50 you can jump aboard and go for a ride!!! Zack was so excited about the train ride through the woods!! He loved every second of it!! We sat in the first seat behind the conductor, and he had the biggest smile on his face!! He also loved the train whistle.

Clemyjontri Park

We had so much fun at Clemyjontri park today!! In my days as a Mommy I have seen some cool parks...but this one is by far the most amazing park I have ever taken the kids! The park has the coolest play areas! Including a maze, cool swing area, drag race area, climbing area, play vechicle's galore, all placed on a safe cushion rubber ground, and in the center of the park...a Carousel(that is FREE to ride during the week)! And, it's also educational...there is an area with maps, a globe, fun games, and everything in this area is labeled(i.e. the red pole..is labeled "RED") to help with learning to spell and read!

Mady loved the carousel(we rode it 3 times). Zach also enjoyed the carousel, but loved the cool firetruck! Mommy had a very fun morning with the kids at the park!!

Oh my Mady....

Late this afternoon I sent my sweet, innocent, beautiful first born upstairs to get dressed...I had to go to Safeway. She went up a 5 year old and came down looking like a teen!!!!

Why didn't someone tell me little girls go from being 5 to thinking they are 14!!! Hello a little warning would have been nice!!!

I figured out why God didn't bless either of my Sister's with a daughter...because I will need all their help to raise this one!!

I have no idea how my Dad raised 3 girls...2 alone during our teen years! He has always been my Hero for this...BUT now I admire him even more!!

P.S. YES, I did let her go to the store like this...when I showed her Dad this picture he almost choked on his dinner and I think it added a few gray hairs! He keeps telling me she won't be allowed to date until she is 30!!! Good luck to him!!!!

Afternoon on the National Mall

We have really been enjoying our weekends in D.C.! Mady, Zach, & especially ME are so happy that Daddy's weekends are now spent with us and not studying or in school!

We took the kids to the National Mall this afternoon. We love walking around, taking in all the sights, people watching, checking out a museum if we want (they are all FREE!), but our favorite thing to do is play kickball or soccer on the lawn! After walking around for a while today, we took a break at the outdoor art structure garden fountain, then checked out the National Gallery of Art (Mady thought this was BORING)..., it was so beautiful! Peter and I enjoyed it!

Then we spent the rest of the afternoon playing soccer on the lawn! There is such a vibrant feeling to living in a city. Check out the last picture of Zach and Peter...I love it...look at the view in the back...playing soccer in the park and the Washington monument as our backdrop...too cool!

Happy Anniversary!

Today we celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary...what an amazing 11 years!

I never imagined myself living anywhere other than in Atlantic Beach, Fl. And then I meet the love of my life, Peter! What an adventure ...11years, 4 states, 4 homes, 1 cat, and 2 absolutely amazing children...I am so blessed. I'm looking forward to many more years and adventures together! Peter you make life so exciting!

I truly believe that one of the best gifts I can give my children is to love their Daddy and to make their home a loving, happy, warm, safe place for them....Peter...you make this so easy!!

National Building Museum

Mady and I took Zach to the building museum today! He was so excited!! We rode Metro downtown...Zach's favorite mode of transportation, then the fun began!! After making him sit in the cafe to eat some lunch...off we went! He loved seeing how things are built...he learned a builder is an Architect

They loved the Building Zone! An absolutely magical room for any child who likes anything to do with construction! The room was full of fun activities...a dress-up area, enormous Lego's, trucks, trucks, and more trucks, tools galore, wooden building blocks, a life size play house, a nook full of all books related to anything and everything construction, and so much more!

It made my heart smile to see this child so excited today! We will definitely be coming back...soon!

"Down Sleeves"

This morning as I sat in utter silence drinking my coffee, I heard the pitter patter of Zach's little feet...run from his room, to the bathroom, then to find me...this is his usual morning routine...so down stairs he came...

"Hi Zach!!!, I am so happy to see you" I say..he jumps in my lap to get his usual morning hug and kisses! As I hug him, his little arms are chilly. "Your arms are cold, baby", I say to him.
"Yes mommy" he said, "I need down sleeves on"...I smile "You mean long sleeves, Zach?"
"Yes mommy...is that what they call it?"

For some reason I like down sleeves better!!!!
